INDUSTRY FOCUS

From the time CLOUD Cartographics incorporated until the present day, the vision of the company has remained the same: to establish cartographic standards for the newly expanding markets in digital map creation. Today as governments, businesses and consumers look to digital solutions, CLOUD continues to expand our focus, offering clients a full array of services to compliment and enhance our mapping solutions.

The beginning: In 1991, CLOUD Cartographics entered the market
by concentrating on rural route re-addressing and Enhanced 911 (E911) development. Educated in traditional mapping techniques and government planning, the founder of the company realized early on that computers would bring much-needed efficiency and expandability to the science of creating, maintaining and customizing maps.

In 1995 CLOUD began a self-funded, five-year research and development phase to capitalize on the new technology. CLOUD developed computer-generated maps for a variety of government, non-profit and related private organizations. The aesthetics and standards we established during this phase are still being copied by competitors today.

In 1999 CLOUD began a second, self-funded, four-year research
and development phase by acquiring a local digital media company (now known as Brain Magnet Industries).  This phase initially focused on the creation of Web portals, supporting online applications, and most importantly, Web-driven maps using CCI's spatial data.  The research resulted in the cutting-edge Web sites and mapping applications the company offers today.

In 2004 CLOUD established a working partnership with
Environmental Services Research Institute (ESRI).  ESRI is an industry leader in spatial data management software and offers services globally.  Through this partnership, we are able to create additional solutions integrating our cartographic and Web expertise with ESRI's existing software solutions.  Currently in development are solutions for print-on-demand plat maps, powerful online mapping applications, and licensed GIS parcel layers for use with ESRI applications.
